English as an Additional Language
When children join us speaking English as an additional language (EAL) we provide additional support to help them settle into school.
Our children are extremely friendly and supportive and this has proven to be a key factor in the successful way that EAL children who have joined us have made friends and quickly learnt to speak English. As with all our children, we aim to meet the needs of EAL children to enable them to achieve well and, as their English develops, to recognise their talent of being able to speak two languages. We also work closely with the Devon Ethnic Minority Achievement support service.
